Tamala Jones: More Lanie in Season 4

posted by Anna | with No Comments | in Tamala Jones

Tamala Jones (Lanie Parish) recently stopped by The Mo’Nique Show to chat about her character becoming a series regular — and her on-screen “lover,” Javier Esposito (Jon Huertas). Ooh la la!

That’s right, as of Season 4, we’ll see a lot more of Lanie Parish — in and out of her scrubs — when the lady medical examiner becomes a series regular, and Jones says she owes it all to Lanie’s loyal fanbase for taking her character from recurring to regular player on Castle.

“The fans … kept writing into ABC wanting to see more Lanie, wanting to see something, and the producers decided to develop some relationship to get the focus off of Castle and Beckett possibly hooking up together,” she says. “So they made us hook up. And it worked!”

The us she is referring to, of course, is Lanie and her detective lover, Javier Esposito, played by the gorgeous Jon Huertas. And we must admit that as much as we love Caskett and their inevitable dramz, it’s nice to see a couple actually work once in awhile.

As for Tamala’s own love life, she admits she’s ready to potentially meet her husband, but if a man doesn’t accept part of her for who she is, it’s on to the next one.

“I date, but I don’t clutter,” she says. “I’m flowing through life … whoever I meet, I give ‘em a shot, if it works, it works. If it doesn’t, it was nice meeting you.”

Talk about a strong, independent woman! Maybe she has more in common with her on screen counterpart after all? Peep the video to hear more about Tamala’s love life, her new independent film, 35 and Ticking, and more.

Question: Rumor has it the season premiere of Castle will be penned by series creator Andrew Marlowe and directed by Rob Bowman, which pretty much confirms that it’s going to be great. Got any more scoop? —Cheryl
Ausiello:
The episode is called “Rise,” but a better title might’ve been “Major Fisticuffs” seeing as how two characters come to blows in the opening minutes. Who?! Hit the comments with your best guesses and then keep close tabs on my public Facebook page for the big reveal in the not-too-distant future (read: next 24 hours)!

spoilers: the new captain

posted by Anna | with No Comments | in Season Four, Spoilers

Warning: Spoilers! Do not read below if you wish to remain spoiler free!

Question: Now that the writers have returned to work on Castle, do you have any scoop? Any further tidbits on the new female captain you mentioned last week? —Cheryl
Ausiello:
According to some just-released character intel, the new boss lady cut her teeth in Internal Affairs and views the captain’s chair as nothing more than a stepping-stone to a bigger, more prominent job. She also has a rep for being a bit of a hard-ass to her co-workers, but she also has a fun and flirtatious side. Got casting tips? Hit the comments!

I can’t believe how long we have to wait for more Castle. Please ease the pain with scoop! — Sharon
ADAM:
Unfortunately for our crime-fighters, the new captain, who will almost certainly be a woman, is a former Internal Affairs investigator who is more interested in politics than police work. But it might not be all bad: Though creator Andrew W. Marlowe previously told us she won’t look as favorably on the Castle-Beckett pairing as Montgomery (RIP!) did, she’ll ultimately be a loyal team leader.

TNT Acquires Hit Crime Drama ‘Castle’

posted by Anna | with No Comments | in Castle News

This is great news for Castle!

In its latest high-profile acquisition, TNT has secured the exclusive off-network cable rights to the hit series, Castle, from Disney-ABC Domestic Television.  Castle, which just completed its third highly rated season on ABC, is a crime drama starring Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Desperate Housewives) and Stana Katic (Quantum of Solace, TNT’s The Librarian: Curse of the Judas Chalice). Castle (seasons 1 & 2) will begin airing on TNT in summer 2012. As part of TNT’s TV Everywhere rollout, Castle will also be available for online viewing through mobile phones, tablets, computers and other devices.

“With the addition of Castle, TNT continues to build a collection of hit shows that will perfectly complement our high-profile original series,” said Michael Wright, executive vice president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM).

TNT’s deal for Castle follows on the heels of the network’s recent acquisition of Hawaii Five-0, which will join the TNT lineup in 2014. TNT has also landed the popular series The Mentalist, which recently enjoyed a strong opening in its Wednesday 7-9 p.m. timeslot.

Castle centers on the life of Richard Castle (Fillion) – a famous mystery novelist and divorced father raising his teenage daughter, while being kept grounded by his Broadway diva mother. He was creatively blocked until the NYPD questioned him in connection with a series of murders staged to imitate crime scenes from his books. Castle found inspiration in NYPD Detective Kate Beckett, a bright and aggressive homicide detective with a fascination for odd and offbeat cases stemming from the years-old unsolved murder of her own mother. Though they instantly clashed, sparks of another sort began to fly, leading both to danger and a hint of romance as Castle stepped in to help find the copycat killer. Once that initial case was solved, Castle and Beckett continued to investigate strange homicides in New York, combining Castle’s writer intuition and Beckett’s creative detective work.

Currently entering its fourth season, the series stars Nathan Fillion as Richard Castle, Stana Katic as Detective Kate Beckett, Tamala Jones as Medical Examiner Lanie Parish, Jon Huertas as NYPD Detective Javier Esposito, Seamus Dever as NYPD Detective Kevin Ryan and Molly Quinn as Alexis Castle, with Susan Sullivan as Martha Rodgers.

Castle is produced by ABC Studios. Andrew Marlowe is the show’s creator/executive producer, along with executive producers Rob Bowman, David Amann, Laurie Zaks and Armyan Bernstein.
